Elk Grove Village named the 2024 “Municipality of the Year” by Illinois Real Estate Journal

We are proud to announce that the Illinois Real Estate Journal named Elk Grove Village the 2024 Municipality of the Year. This is the second time in the last three years that the Village has earned this award, acknowledging that our community continued to be a leader in economic development and business support.

“Earning this recognition for a second time is a testament to Elk Grove Village’s dedication to our ‘Beyond Business Friendly’ customer service, working to support our business community through strategic investment, strong partnerships, and top-of-the-line services,” said Elk Grove Village Mayor Craig Johnson.”

A panel of judges from the real estate industry evaluated several finalists based on key economic development accomplishments, major development projects, and financial support for real estate projects. In its application, the Village highlighted its:

Record-breaking year in private sector development, reaching $390 million in investment in 2023
Recent development activity in the Village includes approval of the 10-acre mixed-use gateway development at Arlington Heights Road and Higgins Road and approval of almost 5 million square feet of new data center facility space
Among recent economic development accomplishments, the Village continued its investment in the local workforce job pipeline with a $750,000 grant for the Elk Grove High School Culinary Manufacturing Education program

Elk Grove Village is one of ten communities in IL to have been accredited by the American Public Works Association

The new Prime Data Center campus at Oakton and Higgins will total over 1 million sq. ft. once fully constructed

Wingspan is anticipated to break ground on the recently approved mixed-use development at Arlington Heights Road and Higgins Road in late 2024

Elk Grove Village is among three communities nationwide to have earned accreditation for all its operational departments

Additionally, Elk Grove Village has demonstrated its commitment to offering exceptional services to the Business Community through numerous recent accolades and accomplishments. Most recently, the Elk Grove Village Public Works Department earned full accreditation status from the American Public Works Association (APWA) in April. With this achievement, Elk Grove Village became the first community in Illinois and one of only three communities nationwide to earn full accreditation for its Public Works, Police, Fire, and Building Departments.
