Spring cleaning isn’t just for your home…
April 2025
The temperatures are rising, the flowers are starting to bloom, so it’s the perfect time to “spring clean” your business. Cleaning your workspace doesn’t just give you a pretty place to conduct business, it can lead to greater productivity across the whole organization. According to a survey by Staples, 94% of workers reported feeling more productive in a clean workspace, while 77% claimed they produce a higher quality of work in a clean environment. With a focus on three key areas, you can refresh your space and get organized for the year ahead.
Physical Space
- Declutter: When work gets busy, the “I’ll get to it later” pile grows larger and larger. Take this opportunity to get rid of unnecessary files, outdated supplies, and equipment that no longer serves you. Shredding is a great way to minimize waste while also protecting company privacy.
- Organize: A well-organized office makes everyone more efficient. Set up file storage solutions and labels to keep things in order.
- Rearrange and refresh: Had the same furniture and wall décor for decades? Take a good hard look at it and decide if it needs replacing. If new furniture isn’t in the budget, refresh your art or rearrange the furniture to give your space a new look.
Deep Clean: Hire a service or make it a company-wide effort to thoroughly clean your office and customer-facing areas. From carpets to windows, meeting spaces to break areas, clean, disinfect and freshen up.
And it’s always a good time to clean out the fridge…
Operations Review
- Tax Compliance: Tax season is upon us, so make sure you have all your ducks in a row. Ensure all filings are up-to-date and accurate.
- Contracts & Policies: Update employee handbooks, client agreements, and legal documents.
- Automate Tasks: Use software to handle repetitive tasks to free up your time (e.g., invoicing, scheduling).
Digital Assets and Processes
- Website: Your website is your love letter to the world. How does everyone see you? Review and update your website content, design, and functionality to best represent your business.
- Social Media: This may be the first time someone is interacting with your company. Refresh your social media presence with new content and engaging posts to make sure it’s conveying the brand identity you want.
- Email Marketing: Clean up your email list by removing inactive subscribers, and refine your email marketing strategy.
- Online Reputation: Show that you care about what your customers have to say. Respond to reviews and clean up outdated content.
- Clean Up Files: Organize digital files on your hard drive or cloud drive.
