2024 Year in Review
January, 2025Let’s take a look at some of the highlights of 2024:
By the Numbers
This past year, our Business Park had a 1.9% Vacancy Rate (in Q3 2024) and our businesses reinvested $810 million in private-sector development. We also resurfaced 2.9 miles of roadway and cleared 144,000 square feet of drainage swales, creating a smoother path to our businesses and proactively reducing community flood risk.
Coming Soon
In 2024, construction began for The Vue, a new mixed-use development at the corner of Arlington Heights and Higgins roads. This development will feature 59,000 square feet of commercial space, 250+ Class-A apartments, 16 three-story townhomes, and amenities such as an outdoor pool and multi-story clubhouse. Longtime community retail staples will be relocating within the development, along with space for new commercial tenants. The Village is also constructing a new pedestrian bridge crossing over Arlington Heights Road adjacent to the development for safe and convenient access to Busse Woods.
In the Community
We love to visit with our neighbors! In 2024, we held 6 ambassador visits to local businesses, and had 12 ribbon-cuttings. These visits allow Village officials to meet and connect with businesses in the Village to learn about their operations and see how the Village can better serve the businesses in Elk Grove.
Making Strides in 2024
We welcomed a new member to our Business Development team and made improvements that will help us support our current and future business. The Elk Grove Village Business Development team welcomes Matt Higgs as a Business Development Specialist. Matt is a proud United States Air Force veteran and brings a wealth of knowledge and drive to the role.
In 2024 the Village also adopted a new Zoning Code to modernize and enhance the existing Zoning Ordinance for the Village. The Code is more reflective of our ever-changing businesses, and the intent is to help businesses expand and grow more efficiently.
Additionally, this past year, the Elk Grove Village Makers Wanted Marketing campaign was showcased on a national stage through a partnership with RFK Racing for NASCAR’s Chicago Street Course event held over July 4th weekend. The Makers Wanted logo adorned Brad Keselowski’s No. 6 Ford Mustang during the race that spanned a 2.2-mile course past Soldier Field, Buckingham Fountain and several other Chicago landmarks, putting national eyes on the Elk Grove Village Business Park.
Getting Online
We’ve seen construction begin on significant developments in the data center sector. Prime Data Center is investing $1 billion to build its 3 three-story data center campus, while Aligned Data Center is investing $285 million to construct 2 two-story data centers totaling over 1,000,000 square feet. These projects underscore Elk Grove Village’s position as a leading hub for technological innovation and infrastructure.
